Change to SEERA Policy Regarding Payment by Ride Managers of Additional Insurance Premiums (eff. 1/15/22):

SEERA maintains a liability insurance policy which applies to SEERA members and Ride Managers (RMs) at SEERA-sanctioned rides. This insurance is and will continue to be provided at no additional cost to RMs. However, RMs may also request and purchase supplemental types of coverage at cost: $25 per additional insured and $30 per waiver of subrogation. We previously allowed RMs reimburse us at the time they sent in their sanctioning fees; however, it became too problematic for our volunteers to track whether we got reimbursed. Therefore, effective January 15, 2022,  RMs requesting these supplemental coverages must pay for them with the sanctioning application in order to be approved.

  • Sanctioning fee is $2.00 per STARTING rider.

    • Sanctioning fees are due within 60 days of ride or by December 1st, whichever comes first.

    • Post-ride, sanctioning fees can be paid via Paypal or by mailing a check made payable to SEERA to P.O. Box 216, Lithia, FL 33547.

  • Proof of insurance coverage will be sent upon request as soon as application is received.

    • Additional copies of supplemental insurance are sent if requested.

RULES FOR SANCTIONING (eff. 1/15/22)

  • Ride Manager (RM) or Assistant RM must be a member of SEERA (click on Membership to join/renew).

  • Ride must be sanctioned by AERC before applying for SEERA sanctioning.

  • At least 2 ride veterinarians are required and must be named on the application.

  • Rides scheduled for the same dates as a previously sanctioned ride must be at least 300 miles away.

  • Rides less than 300 miles away from a previously sanctioned ride must be at least two (2) weeks apart.

  • Sanction requests for new rides, ride date changes, or changes in the ride length must be received for approval by the SEERA Sanctioning Director at least 30 days before the actual ride date so that proper notification of the ride can be made to SEERA members. The Sanctioning Director may allow sanctioning or ride change requests that are received after the 30-day period for emergency purposes only, with the approval of the SEERA President and State Representative in which the ride is located.

  • The Sanctioning Director may also approve a request to include an additional distance to a sanctioned ride if the request is submitted at least 10 days before the ride date, with the approval of the SEERA President and the appropriate state representative.

  • A new ride (first or second occurrence) must receive approval from the SEERA Board for the first two (2) years. If a ride has been successfully managed during this time, then only the approval of the Sanctioning Director is required going forward. 'Successfully managed' is defined as properly marked and measured trails; all financial obligations were met in a timely manner; no behavior by ride personnel that is inappropriate, disrespectful or dangerous; and no complaints or protests, formal or informal. A Ride Manager may receive an exemption from this policy if they have previously successfully managed another ride at a different venue/location for two or more years.

  • Preferential sanctioning is given to established rides (i.e., rides which have been successfully managed for more than two years). These rides should have their dates reserved if they submit their sanctioning request properly and on time.
